Being now very close to the elections, is it not now time to paraphrase part of (French) King Henri IV‘s formula and announce that Brussels “is worth a mass”?
The generation of the signatory of this article has kept in memory the brave efforts of the founding fathers of Europe … Jean Monnet, Robert Schuman, Alcide de Gasperi, Paul-Henri Spaak, Konrad Adenauer … and before them … Aristide Briand.
It does not forget either the joint initiatives of de Gaulle and Adenauer, of Helmut Schmidt and Giscard d’Estaing, of Mitterrand and Kohl.
The substitution of ethical and spiritual values for of a Europe of rather selfish national interests actually fed by a liberal “Pensée Unique” is obviously not calling for the “model” and does not honor the economists who feed such values.
Is it enough to “throw the baby out with the bathwater“?
Without Europe without the Euro currency, would the EU State Members be stronger?
Bearing in mind reckless State local authorities spending we may have some doubts. They would have continued their mad race without the intervention of the European authorities.
So a Europe for Europe makes sense.
